Genesis Holmes empowers individuals in crisis by providing education, job training, and support services to help them rebuild their lives, regain independence, and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

Genesis Holmes was born out of the personal journey of Willie Holmes, a resilient and compassionate individual who transformed his life through determination and service to others. Willie’s story begins in childhood, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of domestic violence. His mother endured years of abuse at the hands of his father, ultimately leaving the family to escape the trauma. Left behind with his father, Willie faced numerous challenges, which were compounded by his later experiences with homelessness and incarceration.
After serving time in prison, Willie found himself homeless for four years. His turning point came when he sought help at the Old Savannah City Mission, where he enrolled in a 13-month recovery program. With the support and guidance he received, Willie not only rebuilt his own life but also began working at the Mission, helping others who faced similar struggles. He managed two key programs—the Clean Start Program for men overcoming homelessness and the Fresh Start Program for formerly incarcerated individuals seeking reintegration.
Inspired by his own journey and the lack of support his mother had received, Willie Holmes was determined to create a space where no one in crisis, especially those with children, would ever be turned away. Thus, Genesis Holmes was founded—a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals break free from the cycle of crisis and dependency through empowerment, education, and long-term solutions. Willie’s mission is to provide the safe haven and support that so many people, like his mother, desperately need.
